BILL BLACK'S COMBO

Bill Black's Combo was founded by the first bass player to back Elvis Presley on his Sun recordings and live performances. The BBC defined the early Hi instrumental sound before the label’s soul era.  “Smokie Part 2,” the BBC’s first hit, reached No. #1 on the R&B charts and broke into the Pop Top 2O.  The Beatles tapped  Bill Black's Combo to become their opening act on the Fab Four’s first United States tour.
