Born February 11, 1942 in Waxhaw, Mississippi, Otis Clay moved
to Muncie, Indiana, where he sang with his family’s gospel
group. Clay sang his way from one gospel group to another with
each new group being him a little more prestige. Clay chased
his dream for a secular recording career from Chicago to
Muscle Shoals, Alabama, before eventually landing in Memphis
to write and record his most impressive body of work while on
Hi Records. |
