HI
RECORDS ARTIST SYL
JOHNSON
|
|
Born July 1, 1936 in Holly Springs, Mississippi, to a
musically gifted family, Syl Johnson developed a unique style
for playing guitar and harp. When he followed family members
to Chicago, musicians there considered Syl a prodigy. After
paying his dues in blues clubs and recording a number of
records, Johnson moved to Memphis to capture its magic. His
bluesy vocal delivery and natural southern soul sensitivities
allowed Syl’s work to add to Hi’s
prestige. |
